Rwanda Arrival Visa — Antigua and Barbuda Passport Guide
Antiguan and Barbudan citizens visiting Rwanda on ordinary passports can use the Commonwealth arrangement for a visa on arrival with the government fee waived for a visit of up to 30 days. Advance online approval is not compulsory for this route. Passport checks, health measures and the permission granted at the border still apply.

What Your Passport Entitles You to at Arrival
Antigua and Barbuda joined the Commonwealth in 1981. Rwanda’s arrival policy gives nationals of Commonwealth member countries a 30-day visa fee waiver. This benefit follows your passport nationality; living in Antigua and Barbuda does not give a traveller with another nationality the same entitlement.
The Rwanda Development Board confirms that visa-on-arrival facilities are available at Kigali International Airport and land borders, subject to applicable entry controls.
| Travel plan | Appropriate action | Fee and permission |
|---|---|---|
| Short Rwanda visit under the Commonwealth arrangement | Complete visa formalities at arrival | Government fee waived; up to 30 days; single entry |
| Prefer to seek approval before departure | Check the relevant category through official IremboGov | Documents and any payable fee depend on the category |
| Stay beyond your authorised period | Check renewal or permit options with DGIE | A longer stay needs the appropriate permission |
| Take employment in Rwanda | Obtain the relevant work permission | The visitor arrangement does not authorise employment |
DGIE identifies the organisational waiver arrangement as single entry without permission to work. IremboGov provides separate application, renewal and permit options.
A waived visa fee does not remove immigration formalities. Check the expiry date and conditions recorded on your entry permission.
Prepare Documents for Your Rwanda Visit
Your passport must have at least six months’ validity when you enter Rwanda.
For practical preparation, keep your accommodation details, return or onward itinerary and evidence of trip funding accessible. These are recommended supporting records, rather than a universal online-upload checklist for arrival visas.
If you obtained advance approval, carry a copy with the passport used in the application.

Check Your Route and Recent Travel History
Yellow fever requirements
Rwanda’s yellow fever rules depend on where you are arriving from and relevant travel history. The Rwanda Biomedical Centre requires a certificate for travellers coming from endemic countries or countries with an active outbreak. It does not require one for arrivals from non-endemic countries without an active outbreak.
Travel involving the Democratic Republic of the Congo
The Ministry of Health notice dated 22 May 2026 states that foreign nationals who visited or transited through the DRC during the preceding 30 days will be denied entry. It provides a separate rule for Rwandan nationals and foreign residents with proof of Rwanda residency.
If this affects your itinerary, confirm the latest position before departure using the official health notice. Arrival-visa eligibility does not override health restrictions.
Applying Online Is an Optional Alternative
Travellers who prefer advance approval can review the official IremboGov visa application instructions.
- Open IremboGov and select Visa Application.
- Choose the category matching your purpose.
- Enter passport, contact and travel details accurately.
- Upload the documents requested for that category.
- Review the information and submit. Pay only if the selected application requires payment.
Common attachments include a passport biodata copy, a photograph with a white background and an application letter. The category controls the exact requirements. Check the portal’s current processing estimate and allow time for requests for further information.
Government Charges and Optional Assistance Costs
The government fee is waived for the qualifying 30-day Commonwealth arrival route. An agency’s service charge is a separate commercial cost; it does not make a paid advance application necessary.
Rwanda Immigration Services is an independent commercial provider, not Rwanda’s immigration authority. Review its service disclaimer before purchasing assistance. Immigration decisions remain with the authorities.
Questions Antiguan and Barbudan Travellers Ask
Does the 30-day arrangement cover leaving Rwanda and returning?
DGIE lists the organisational waiver arrangement as single entry. Check permission for your next entry before planning to leave and return.
Can I extend my visit through an embassy only?
No. IremboGov identifies visa renewal and permit options for applicants already in Rwanda. Ask DGIE which option fits your circumstances before your permission expires.
Does this Rwanda permission also cover neighbouring countries?
Do not assume so. Check each destination’s entry rules separately when building a regional itinerary.
Where should I check a claim about a longer bilateral exemption?
Ask DGIE or a competent Rwandan diplomatic mission to confirm the effective arrangement and permitted stay. Do not plan a longer visit from a report of an agreement’s signing alone.
Before booking, review DGIE’s visa-on-arrival policy and check that your itinerary fits the current immigration and health rules.
