Rwanda Visa for Guyanese Citizens: Requirements & Fees
Guyanese citizens can obtain a Rwanda visa on arrival without applying before departure. As Guyana is a Commonwealth member, its citizens qualify for a visa fee waiver for a 30-day visit. For an ordinary-passport holder planning a short holiday, a paid pre-travel eVisa is therefore not mandatory. Travellers must still meet Rwanda’s entry requirements.
Do Guyanese Citizens Need a Visa for Rwanda?
The applicable arrangement is a visa issued on arrival with the visa fee waived. It should not be confused with unrestricted visa-free entry.
| Your travel plan | Relevant option | Important condition |
|---|---|---|
| A short holiday in Rwanda | Free visa on arrival for a 30-day visit | Use your Guyanese passport and comply with entry requirements |
| Arranging a visa before departure | Optional online application | Select the category matching your visit |
| Staying longer or travelling for another purpose | Check the applicable visa or permit | Do not assume the 30-day arrangement covers your plans |
Rwanda’s immigration authority confirms that visa on arrival is available at Kigali International Airport and land borders.

Rwanda Entry Requirements for Guyanese Citizens
Your passport should be valid for at least six months from your date of entry. The relevant short-visit arrangement is single entry and does not permit employment.
Before departure:
- Check your passport’s expiry date.
- Ensure you have sufficient funds for your stay; evidence may be requested.
- Check whether vaccination documents are required for your itinerary.
- Keep your travel and accommodation details accessible.
Rwanda’s general entry guidance explains the financial and health checks. Also check the entry or transit rules of any other country on your journey.
Can Guyanese Citizens Apply for a Rwanda Visa Online?
Yes. Applying online is an optional way to arrange your visa before departure. It is not a prerequisite for the eligible visa-on-arrival route.
Applying Directly Through IremboGov
You can apply through IremboGov, Rwanda’s government portal.
- Select Visa Application.
- Choose the visa category matching your purpose.
- Enter your passport, personal and travel details accurately.
- Upload the documents requested for that category.
- Review and submit your application.
Common attachments include a passport biodata-page copy, a photograph with a white background and an application letter. Requirements vary by category. IremboGov explains that applications for free visas proceed without a payment step.
Checking Optional Assistance with Rwanda Immigration Services
If you prefer support, contact Rwanda Immigration Services to ask whether assistance is available for your Guyanese passport and intended visa category before purchasing a service.
Rwanda Immigration Services is an independent commercial provider, not a Rwandan government authority. Any optional assistance charge is separate from the government visa fee. You can apply directly through the official portal yourself.

Rwanda Visa Fees and Processing Time
The government visa fee is waived for the qualifying 30-day arrival visit. This does not mean that every visa category, longer stay or optional commercial service is free.
For advance applications, IremboGov publishes a processing time of four days. Treat this as an estimate and allow time for additional checks.
If you enquire about commercial assistance, request an itemised quote showing the visa category, any applicable official charge and the provider’s separate fees.
Longer Stays and Travel to Kenya or Uganda
If you want to remain beyond your authorised stay, check the rules for your visa category and apply for any permitted extension before your current visa expires. An extension should not be assumed to be automatic.
For a tourism itinerary covering Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda, the East Africa Tourist Visa is a separate option. Rwanda’s official guidance lists a US$100 fee, 90-day validity and multiple entries within the three countries. If obtained through Rwanda before travel, your first entry must be Rwanda. The free Rwanda arrival visa does not itself authorise entry into Kenya or Uganda.
